Counselling
Reaching out for help can be much like diving into the unknown.
Know that there is a kind face on the other end with the knowledge and passion to help.
Following a first contact to set up our initial appointment together, you can expect that a typical first counselling appointment will be an opportunity to explore your interest in counselling and an assessment of challenges and needs, so that we can build therapeutic goals that best meet you where you are in life. Counselling can be helpful in addressing a variety of concerns: anxiety / panic, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, use of alcohol or recreational drugs, trauma, grief, suicidal thoughts, self harm behaviors, feeling generally overwhelmed, wanting to reconnect with self .
Elm Grove Centre uses a person centered approach to treatment, and draws from its variety of professional modalities deemed as the most appropriate based on the identified needs of the person. For example, modalities such as Equine Psychotherapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) can be used to accompany you towards your therapeutic goals.

Know that regardless of the strategies from the modality used, you will be met with warmth, respect, without judgement, and with dignity.
You can expect a typical session to be approximately 50 minutes.
